This course is a Levantine Arabic course. 

Levantine Arabic is the type of Arabic that is spoken in the Levant region of the Middle East (Jordan, Palestine, Syria, and Lebanon) but is understood across the Middle East.

The Arabic in each of these countries differs slightly but mainly on the accent side. 

Your instructors are mostly Palestinian/Jordanian so this will be the main accent taught (both accents are very similar to one another with only small modifications-but at a basic learning level this doesn’t matter too much). 

The goal is to offer you the best resources and guidance so that you can effectively communicate with anyone from these countries. 

Keep in mind, that Spoken or Dialect Arabic (which is the focus of this course), is different that Modern Standard Arabic (MSA). 

MSA the type of Arabic that is taught in schools and academic institutions but isn’t really spoken on a day to day basis. It is mostly used for reading and writing and also for communicating during formal situations (speeches, on the news, certain talk shows, etc..). 

Our focus in this course, is more on the Spoken/Dialect Arabic that will provide you with the right skills to converse in practical, everyday situations! 

The short answer-yes. 

The longer answer-it depends. 

Elaboration:  

What we teach in this course, will be understood by the majority (if not all) native speakers. This is because native speakers have more exposure to the language, its dialects, and accents that they will, to a certain extent, be able to understand what the speaker is saying, even if that speaker is not from the same region/country. 

So as far as being understood by anyone in the Middle East, for the most part, this should not be an issue. 

What you may find challenging, however, is you ( the learner) being able to understand what people outside of the Levant region are saying—and this is perfectly normal at a beginner level. 

Take English for example and let’s say you are just starting out with English learning. You join an American English course where you learn to speak with an American accent. If you encounter an English speaker from the UK, that speaker will typically have no issues understanding you ( and they will actually be able to point out that you have learned American English) but you as the learner, might have issues picking up on certain word pronunciations and expressions (again, imagine you spoke zero English and are just starting out with learning it).  

Again, this is perfectly normal at beginning stages and as you progress in your learning, we provide tips and tricks on being able to identify certain sounds and phrases from other regions so you get more and more comfortable with communicating with others across the Middle East! 

Not at all. The focus of this course is to kick start your speaking capabilities so you can start conversing in Arabic right away. We use a transliteration method where Arabic words are written out in English letters so that you can follow along with zero Arabic reading and writing. 

There will be some Arabic script outlined in some areas throughout the course. However, this is just optional reference and is meant for students that have a bit of background in reading.  

If anyone tells you that you can be fluent in a language in 6 weeks (recommended time. to complete this course—walk the other way! 

Mastering a language requires time, lots of practice, and exposure to the language. While the mastering part cannot be done in 6 weeks, you will certainly gain much value from this course and learn everything that is outlined throughout the page (as long as you are putting in the work and following the program). 

By the end of the course, you will be able to talk about yourself, describe things, interact with people in everyday basic scenarios, learn simple verb conjugation, gain solid grammar concepts and pick up many useful phrases to help you get by at a basic level that will certainly further trigger your interest in the language and culture.  

There is a level 2, level 3 and then an immersion-based membership academy once a student has successfully completed the levels and has shown serious interest in progressing in the language.

Level 2 focuses more on sentence structure, verb conjugation and conversations while Level 3 focuses on advanced verb tenses to enhance not only conversational skills but also storytelling skills with more complex sentence structures.
